Malaysia trip to Kukup with my parents & Darren 7/8/2009 to 9/8/2009

About Kukup:

Kukup Laut, a very unique and a century old fishing village built entirely on stilts on the sea surrounded by water, is the southernmost village found at the southwest tip of the Peninsular of West Malaysia, and suppose to be the southernmost village found in the Continental of Asia. Located about 70 kilometers away from Johor Bahru, and 20 kilometers from Pontian, Kukup Laut has only one road to access by land. It may be reached by sea boarding ferry leaving World Trade Center in Singapore daily. The entire village is linked by jetty also built on stilts on sea. This place is famous of its seafood. It’s geographically and ideally shadowed by one of the world’s largest mangrove swamp island – Kukup Island along which numerous fish-farms bob up and down on the surface of the Kukup Sea.

We went there together with a C.C. organised event.  I always wanted a vacation badly.  Look I got it and due to $$$ strain, My dad paid for the whole trip for me and the boys. To me my dad is kinda of slient doing his love for us in a different light. My father treat Dayan better. LOOK I'm jealous, I admit, cause he is different.

We gotten addicted to the otah and barbecue roasted meat there and also Ang Ku Que Jelly ( Its new in the market and it taste great). It was a bit boring though, but the air is great, the hei bi (dried shrimp) Smell is kinda of strong cause its a fishing village and they supply those to other parts of country.

I Remember the dangerous road as it is a fishing village and road inwards to where we stay doesnt have a normal path(with grills by the road sides)  for people to walk. The Path is for all motorcycles and carts, people,  etc...  Oops I lost the pictures for the route that we took plus the temple we been to. Sian lor and sorry about it.

Our room with my parents where we 3 spent the most time in.

I only took a couple of shots of the sea-view, here they are:

Dayan's not happy about these pictures but they are the only one's he is willing to take pictures of.

This is Dayan's Little brother, behind is their grandmother and grandpa whom didnt want to be on candid camera and his wearing mummy's hand knitted hat that belongs to Dayan. Well Dayan brought another Super bright neon green knitted hat which we didnt took during the trip. Well its his love that he kept it away too well. I will dig out the picture of him wearing the hat.

We were basically fed like pigs = aka breakfast, tea time, lunch time, tea time, dinner time, supper and even late night supper. We super welcome this kind of food lifestyle everyday. hahaha PIGS feeling right. wont grow fat also hard.hahaha

We played with fireworks for the first time. it was super loud. Dayan's brother was screaming away(afraid). I couldnt find Dayan. He ran back to the room to hide. Well it is kinda ends my picture talking.

Lastly: I got a great recipe from the host. remember prawn fried cracker from Pasar Malam kind.

Here it is: Crispy Fried Prawn Cracker

Ingredients are all agar rations as being told and taught

flour, a pinch of salt and water. Mix to gluey running texture. * note: to add this last. Crispness came from ENO Brand-Green color bottle. ADD this 2 tablespoon- her agar ratio is to mix till it has small bubbles all around

Oil must be hot.
2 round spatula - for rotation for frying

Pour some mix on spatula and add in small prawns. Deep fried. When mix left the surface of spatula, remove and do the next batch. Rotate with 2 spatula. For us, we requested special as Dayan didn't like prawns, hence his is ko-song (PLAIN). It was superb tasty too. MUST be the ENO cause it was all gone before I manage to snap pictures of the cracker.. Note to drink herbal tea as heaty.
